The restoration turns the corner, and heads into the stretch! Dad emails me on 07/25/2005: The tractor is in 10,000 pieces and that is the bad news. The good news? It is going back together starting tomorrow including getting a sand blast and a new paint job. They are going to do an epoxy undercoat and then paint it IH red directly from IH. The question is tires. They say 3 rib on the front and they did get the three wheel spokes. What about the back? What was on there is not authentic. Also, anything on the fenders? It took 50 tons of pressure to get the rear wheel seperated from the axle. The axles are up in Antigo getting new bearings pressed on the rear axles. The restoration work was performed by Kolbe and Kolbe technician extraoidinaire Tom Zimmerman. And as he stated above, Dad finally takes pictures on 07/25/2005. Tom has already disassembled the tractor and is beginning to prep it for blasting: |
